Native to India, Holy Basil, Ocimum tenuiflorum, or ‘Tulsi’, has been a revered herb and sacred plant since antiquity. With a spicy and sweet fragrance, it is regarded as a purifier of mind, body and spirit.
Holy Basil is quite different to the basil used in Mediterranean cooking. In Hinduism it is regarded as sacred and is used in various spiritual rituals. Its fragrance is a combination of liquorice and clove, giving it a spicy, sweet, refreshing aroma.
